The Knights are coming off of a loss to the University of Wisconsin Badgers by a score of 48-10. They have now lost two games in a row by a combined score of 97-17.
The two losses to then #1 ranked Ohio State and to Wisconsin come after the Knights were looking like they were proving themselves worthy after pushing the Michigan State Spartans to the brink in their meeting and completing a 25-point comeback to win at Indiana.
Michigan has also had a season with close wins and close losses. They were shocked by their in-state rivals, the Michigan State Spartans, when Michigan punter Blake O'Neill fumbled the snap on a punt on a fourth and 10 with only seconds left. the ball was picked by an returned for a touchdown by the Spartans as time expired in the Big House.
In last week's game, the Wolverines held the Minnesota Gophers to a goal line stand with no time left to win the game. While Rutgers has struggled their last two games, Michigan hasn't exactly had the best of luck themselves.
In last year's meeting between Rutgers and Michigan, Rutgers got their first win as a member of the Big Ten with a last second field goal to upset the Wolverines by a score of 26-24.
This year is different, however. This game is in the Big House, where the Wolverines have outscored opponents 124-41, including two shutouts against BYU and Northwestern.
Rutgers is 1-2 on the road this season. They lost by a score of 28-3 against the Penn State Nittany Lions. The Lions defense held the Knights to just 43 yards rushing and forced three turnovers, including two interceptions from Rutgers quarterback Chris Laviano.
Michigan should have no trouble shutting down Laviano and the Rutgers offense to win the game easily, sending the Scarlet Knights to their third consecutive loss.
