The Jets were looking to get a win in Oakland against the Raiders. Both teams were pretty evenly matched on both sides of the ball, so for the first time since these two teams met in the Heidi Bowl in 1983, it was safe to say the Jets and Raiders could play a shootout game.

The Jets fell behind early, and it got worse for them as quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was taken out of the game with a thumb injury. Geno Smith, who lost his job to Fitzpatrick after having his jaw broken before the season, was back under center.

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr threw three touchdowns, and they were up 21-3 in the first half.
He struggled, throwing an interception to Raiders veteran CB Charles Woodson with the Jets down 21-3 in the second quarter. The Jets were able to kick a field goal, and they trailed 21-6 at halftime.

The Raiders scored another touchdown to start the second half and led 28-6 with 11:06 in the third quarter. On the Jets next drive, Brandon Marshall hauled in a long pass, but then almost instantly went to the ground, holding his left foot. He was able to get up and head to the sideline under his own power. He would return to the game.

Smith found tight end Eric Decker for a touchdown and the Jets pulled within 15 halfway through the third quarter. The Raiders added two field goals, and they lead 31-13 at the end of three.

The Jets pulled within two scored when Smith found Kyle Davis for a touchdown. The score was now 34-20. The defense forced a Raiders punt, and the Jets were in business after a personal foul penalty on the Raiders.

In the drive, though, the Jets failed on a fourth and three at the Raiders’ 38 yard line with 5:33 left. The two teams exchanged punts for the next four and a half minutes, and with under a minute to go, Smith left the game with an injury, which meant that Fitzpatrick had to come back in to the game.

The Raiders won the game by a final score of 34-20. The Jets (4-3) will head back to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, where they will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars next Sunday at 1 p.m. before Rex Ryan makes his return to MetLife as the Jets host th me Bills on Nov. 15 on Sunday Night Football on NBC.

The Raiders (4-3) will travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers, who lost their star running back in Leveon Bell to a torn MCL. His season is over.
