Takeaways from the NFL Draft

I'm not much of a draft guy, but I did watch the NFL Draft this year because I was looking to see which big college stars would go to which team. After watching the seven rounds in three days, I have some takeaways from the draft, such as:

The Browns did REALLY well in the draft this year: normally, the Browns don't draft such great players. This year, however, was different. It all started when they drafted wide receiver Corey Coleman with the 15th overall pick. Coleman is an excellent receiver and with the right quarterback, he can do well in the NFL. Ricardo Louis is another great receiver that the Browns picked up in the fourth round. The Browns also drafted a great quarterback in Cody Kessler out of USC, With these three running the team, the Browns could make themselves noticed in 2016.

The Dolphins' best pick wasn't Tunsil: The Dolphins got what people are calling the "steal of the draft in OT Laremy Tunsil. While that is a great pick for the Dolphins, I don't think that he was their best pick. Their best pick was Kenyon Drake out of Alabama, who they drafted in the third round. Although he backed up Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry, Drake has much better speed and can break loose if he finds a hole.

The Cowboys picking Jaylon Smith was stupid: The Dallas Cowboys drafted Notre Dame OLB Jaylon Smith with the 34th overall pick. They should have never done. Smith suffered such a significant leg injury in the team's Fiesta Bowl loss to Ohio State, doctors say he may never play again. All the Cowboys did in drafting him was lose millions on a wasted contract.

The Raiders didn't need to draft Connor Cook: The Raiders have Derek Carr, who is about to reach his prime. Why did they draft Connor Cook? He probably will never start in Oakland unless Carr gets injured.

Paxton Lynch to the Broncos makes perfect sense: Mark Sanchez is not going to lead the Broncos back to the Super Bowl. Paxton Lynch should definitely be the starter for Denver for years to come. Seeing him going up against Tom Brady will be most interesting to watch and if the Broncos want to continue to succeed, I feel he will lead them that way.

Kevin Hogan was a big steal for the Chiefs: Stanford quarterback Kevin Hogan is a quarterback any team should have competing for the starting job. The Chiefs got a great quarterback, taking him in the fifth round. I expect to see a quarterback competition in Kansas City with Hogan and Alex Smith.
